If you owe a Mac you must be using TimeMachine to backup your machine. And if you use TimeMachine at one point of your life you must have come across the need to delete the old backup files.
Trust me it’s pretty simple.
With little experience on command line tool “Terminal” provided under macOS you can perform cleanup.
tmutil is the command line utility.
You can use the tmutil tool to delete backups one by one as per the below syntax:
sudo tmutil delete /Volumes/drive_name/Backups.backupdb/mac_name/YYYY-MM-DD-hhmmss
Here YYYY-MM-DD-hhmmss is the backup directory name.
Please be careful with the sudo command and ensure you picked the right directory since the changes cannot be reversed. sudo command will ask for password to commence the execution.
